EXCLUSIVELY SERVING EMPLOYERS, EXECUTIVES, AND ENTREPRENEURS
I have thirty years of legal experience in a variety of settings. I focus on proactive planning and practical resolution of matters for employers and for executives. I work with clients to find alternatives to litigation.
I spent several years in-house as the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, as well as the Vice President, Global Compliance and Business Standards, and Chief Privacy Officer of Ryder, a publicly traded, multinational Fortune 500 company overseeing the company's global compliance, business ethics, privacy, government relations, environmental compliance, enterprise risk management, corporate responsibility, and labor and employment legal programs.
I also served as the head of human resources for one of the company’s two divisions before being tasked with developing the compliance, enterprise risk management, and privacy programs from scratch. Prior to joining Ryder, I worked as labor and employment associate at Morgan Lewis in Miami, a commercial litigator at Cleary Gottlieb in New York, and clerked for the Supreme Court of New Jersey.
I currently serve as the co-chair of the governance committee of the Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade; the Director of the Transactional Skills Program and Faculty Coordinator of the Business Compliance and Sustainability concentration at the University of Miami School of Law; founder of Illuminating Wisdom, an executive coaching, business strategy, and corporate training firm; and the general counsel of a sustainable startup.
Additionally, I've been interviewed by or featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, NPR, the Guardian, Verge, Forbes, Agenda (Financial Times), and other news outlets around the world. In May 2011, I testified before the House Financial Services Committee in Congress on the unintended impact of Dodd-Frank Financial Reform on corporate compliance programs. In 2012, the Secretary of Labor appointed me to the Whistleblower Protection Advisory Committee, where I served for five years. I also served on the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust from 2014-2017.
I earned my law degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and my undergraduate degree, cum laude, in political science and psychology from Columbia University. I've been admitted to the bars of New York, New Jersey, Florida and the United States Supreme Court and am the proud mother of an artist.
